General textual analysis of Paramore Brick By Boring Brick

Introduction
Artist: Paramore Brick By Boring Brick
Directed By: Meiert Avis

The genre of this video is "Rock"(pop/punk to some)

What is the relationship between lyrics and visuals?
The relationship between the lyrics and visuals are that its set in a like fiarytale place which near to the first words are "she lives in a fairytale" also using the word "she" is related to using the little girl used in the music video also goes on about wings of a butterfly which through out the little girl is wearing them."shovel dig a deep hole" also used in the video of a man digging a hole when ever it goes back to hayley williams sing. There is also alot of fairytale characters which are simlair to ones which are in kids films but slightly different due to it being a rock song.In the song she goes on about a castle which at a point is where the girl turns up so the video really more shows a story behide the song we are listerning to.

What is the relationship between music and visuals?
The intro of the song is also used as a intro to the place in which the video/scene is set which leads us into where everything is happening in this fairytale place.the little girl running at the start is near running to the drum beat before it nicely cuts into to another scene where Hayley williams starts singing. The cuts bettween hayley and the little girl gives off its her when she was little and the sort of fairytale/nightmare dreams she used to have well thats my view. though out the whole video it doesnt show any one playing a music
instrument its more based on putting a cross the story they are trying to tell use in the song.
Are there close-ups of the artist and star image motifs?
Since paramore did the soundtrack to a hit movie Twlight there videos have been very strange as in they havnt done anything normal its more been based on a fairytale land like this one with it, it helped promt thier new album which just came out not long before this video was realsed. this video is a bit different compared to some of the others as its more of a story than seeing them play instrurments along with things happening in the video like they did in "Crush crush" "misery business" and others. All videos and mainly foucus on Hayley Williams she doesnt give of a
sexual display but shes a infulnce to mainy girls as she has her changed alot and is liked very much by loads of people as its different to any normal hair style. nothing in the video gives of a sexual nature due to it being a clean video which is set in a fairytale place.
Is there reference to the notion of
looking?

I dont think this video relates to any other music video ive ever seen due to it being unnormal using the complete song as a story normally music videos consid on having the whole band playing in one scene then cutting to some thing else but this doesnt sure it goes back to her singing alot but also shows more of the story with the guy still diggin the hole. The whole video has paramore wrote all over it due to it being unnormal to anyother music video.

Is the music video performance-based, narrative-based or concept-based?

over all i think its a awesome video so i feel its 50 50 with the perfomance and
narrative
